give

You hopefully have payed a teeny bit of attention to all the mammering on and on I’ve done about Run.Blog. Give.  Hopefully.  And if not, just pretend you have.

The best part about this whole little project of mine is the GIVE part.  I like all run and the blog parts too BUT I like feeling like I’m doing it with and for something.  I hope you do too. Today I’m spotlighting some of the “gives” my team has chosen for themselves.

Bridget from Twinisms and her own team posse are gearing their miles to the American Widow Project.  Her efforts were recognized on the AWP facebook page and we gained some other awesome team members (Laura, Christie, and Michelle!)  The purpose of this organization leaves me with a lump in my throat every time.  The sacrifice made by the spouses of our armed men and women — and their children — is beyond any I can pretend to know.  The American Widow Project works to support those that are left behind heal.  You can donate here.

Kate is the owner of the blog zMOMbie and she has decided to put her miles towards House of Ruth.  Simply, this charity works to help empower women and their children that have suffered from lifetimes of abuse.  They house 13 programs in the DC area and help over 600 women and children each day.  You can donate here

Two team members have identified their local humane society organizations for their miles.  Greta and Mindi love our four-legged friends!  You can find your own local Humane Society here

Janelle from Domestically Seasoned brought to light this charity for me, Jakes Help From Heaven.  Reading Jake’s story is hard but necessary.  The good that comes from the depths of pain is always inspiring to me and this is no exception.  You can donate to this worthy cause here.

Jennifer from Just Jennifer has singled out her local food bank for her donations.  The Marysville Community Food Bank will be getting all of her hard earned miles. Through her banged up knees she kept walking — love that perseverance Jennifer!

Alexis from Troublesome Tots has elected to give her miles to the Wounded Warrior Project.  This group works to aid, foster, support and help heal our injured service members.  The WWP serves military service members that incurred injuries while serving on or after September 11, 2001.  A day I’m sure none of us will forget.  As of May 2012 they have helped over 17,000 service men and women and their families.  You can donate here.

Team Reslers is our husband and wife team.  The wife, Trinity, chronicles their lives at Real Life Reslers.  These two are on a healthy mission and have teamed up with us for some added incentive!  They have chosen the March of Dimes as their charity.  This is a charity that I myself have given to in the past and always love participating in their events.  You can find your local chapter here AND donate here.  Nothing better than helping a child in need in my opinion.

I’ve already told you I’d be giving my miles to the 3day walk (which is just around the corner!!) and my friend Poppy from Funny or Snot said she’s doing the same.  Except she’s planning on giving her miles to someone who hasn’t reached their fundraising requirement of $2300.  That is way awesome and way like Poppy to share the love!  If you want to contribute to me, my team, or anyone else you can click that pretty box over in the sidebar or click here.

How’s that for some giving!  If we all give $1 per 1 mile (which is just a suggestion, not a requirement!) then we will give over $2000 to these organizations.  Pat ourselves on the back.  And keep moving those feet!
