words of our home

Posted in: life, listicles, Mom

I have always been a lover of words, quotes, lyrics.  I like how much they can hold. How different the same exact group of words can mean something completely different to me than they do you.

When Stasha challenged us with 10 words that describe our home I looked around my house and first thought.… chaos.  Naturally!  When I looked a little deeper I realized my house was filled with words.  I went around and captured a photo of all the words you can see in my house and when you put them all together… that’s my home.

Today is not a dress rehearsal

A small square block that sits on the ledge in my kitchen window.  A quick and gentle reminder to live today because tomorrow is not a guarantee.  Sits right next to the heart rock middle-man picked up on a walk and couldn’t wait to bring home to me.

Celebrate   You are Special

Our “special” plate that you only get to eat off of when it’s a special day.  Special days are not just birthdays… Babe used it when he got his new job.  Biggest used it on his first day of school.  You get the picture!

These are the days we will remember forever

I have a small addiction to vinyl.  Vinyl stickers that is.  I have one in each child’s room.  This one is in the dining room, anchored with a small framed photo of some spectacular small moment in time.

HOME, Home is where your story begins

This was one of the first pieces I bought for our new home.  The sum of all I want to happen within our walls.  I love a good story.

Life is not made of the number of breaths we take
but by the moments that take our breath away.

Sits on our mantle surrounded by pictures of our babies when they were babies.

All because two people fell in love.

If it doesn’t start here, where does it start?

I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance: A church filled with flowers and friends.  I asked him what kind of wedding he wished for: he said one that would make me his wife.

I remember finding this vintage greeting card in a store just after I’d gotten my very own diamond ring.  It helped remind me of the big picture, which is all he ever really wants me to do.

the two of us together… we can do anything.

Fellow Dave fans will recognize this one.  It’s become our family theme song of sorts.  Its on the wall in the boys room, just between their headboards.

I love you oh so well

This one is in Princess B’s room and yes, another Dave lyric.  Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow…

There is only one happiness in life
To love and to be loved

A canvas print that hangs in a high traffic area.  I used this as a weekend wisdom a few weeks ago.  If I can remember this each day then the rest should fall into place.

There were actually a lot more that I didn’t include… not sure if that’s good or bad decorating sense!?  Ha!  What are some words around your home?

I want to be in your home. You don’t have to guess or interpret the love there, it is spelled out! I feel inspired and glad that you shared this. Ellen
