very pinteresting

Posted in: cooking, life

Every once in a while I get a bug in my bones and I want to tackle Pins.  I go through my boards and make a list of some I want to do.  Here is a collection of some of the recent ones.  I don’t often write about my Pin’s but this weekend I remembered that my friend Julie isn’t on Pinterest (I know, right?!?) so this is really mostly for her.

Water drink… first disclaimer: I do not look like the woman pictured after drinking this water drink.  False advertising?

Maybe.  But I like other liquids, full of delicious carbs, too much to look like her.

Regardless of that bit I do like this drink.  I already drink that much or more of water every day. I have a ginormous water bottle that holds 64 oz of water.  I fill it each morning add the extras and sip away for the day.  I am not a numbers girl so I can’t claim the actual poundage loss that this claims.  I never actually lose weight, it’s always the same number give or take a few depending on the time of the day.  My body definitely changes but the number never does.  I can tell you though that my rings are very loose now and my hands don’t get swollen when I’m running or walking.  I think it works and I think you should try it.  I use No Sugar Added Cranberry Juice, not sugar-free.  The tea bags are in the wholistic aisle at the grocer, not with the tea and coffee.

Calzone… this is good and easy and my kids love it.  S-O-L-D.  I, of course, buy pre-made dough so that all I have to do is roll it out.  Believe it or not I do not own a rolling-pin and I had to Google an alternative idea.  I used a drinking glass.  Then had a drink out of it while the calzone was baking!  Great for a Friday night dinner.

Stromboli… just like the Calzone above; good, easy, and kid approved!  I found this on my favorite linky, yeah write and pinned it pronto.  I’ve only made it once but it’s filed away for the future for sure.  I even bought some extra frozen dough balls for the just-in-case times.  The recipe can be found here!

Corona-ita... I made a pitcher and traveled next door with it.  It was a school night so I had to finish the pitcher at home.  This is a must-make this summer.  Must.  Equal parts frozen limeade (use the can to measure the rest), tequila, water, and Sprite.  Add one Corona, sitr and serve.  I preferred it over ice with lots of salt on the rim.… hmmmmm.  Thank you The Exhausted Mom for sharing these on her Thirsty Thursday series!

Yogurt dots… Biggest loved these.  I thought they’d be great for the girls who only want to feed themselves now.  They weren’t.  They melted too quickly and weren’t big or bulky enough for them to grasp in their fingers.  I think I might try it again but modify the shape somehow so they are more of a ball shape.  Could be great for an outdoor summer picnic when they are easily hosed off.  Also may be good on top of a small bite-size cookie.  Give it a try and let me know what you come up with.

Strawberry shortcake kabob… These could not have been easier and they were delicious.  I bought pre-made angel food cake.  Used the microwave to melt the chocolate.  So the ‘hardest’ part was cutting up the strawberries.  Next time I’m going to use chocolate and white I think.  They were a big hit!  The directions are here but they are pretty self explanatory!

What have you pinned AND produced lately?  More importantly are we following each other?!

This is great! I absolutely understand that “have to tackle my pins” feeling. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by all the stuff I want to try. when that happens it’s best to pick a few recipes and just DO IT.

Going to follow you now if I’m not already.

Thanks Nina and you are absolutely right… every once in awhile I pick a few and make my list! It’s kind of fun to see what works and what didn’t!!

I’ve made lots of recipes! Favorites are: baked chik parm, white chicken enchiladas, lots of cookies and cupcakes!, lemon yogurt cake, and the feta/tomato dip!
As for the kids…we have done some hand print artwork and I tried the “put the paint in the ziploc, so it won’t make a mess”

My girlfriend made seating for her front porch with a pallet. Turned out very cool! Thanks to pinterest!

I have made habanero infused vodka and cookies around Christmas time, but that is all. Love the yogurt dots idea if my kids were still little. I have been staying away lately though because it is a huge time suck for me.

I adore Pinterest and can say that I do actually execute many of my Pins. As in, do, not kill.

    Just had to clarify that.

We are frequently repinning one another.

      Does that sound bad?

I can’t get to Pinterest from work, so I seldom actually head there … but, I fear what would happen if I started.

The Fireman Sauza tequila commercial has me craving margaritas horribly, so I don’t know what that says about my sexuality … but, still, I think a Coronarita is in my future.

And calzones are surprisingly easy to make.

Good on you for actually doing something with your pins! :)

It’s not been recent but I’ve baked/ cooked a variety of stuff I found on Pinterest — oven-friend chicken + coleslow, garlic brown sugar chicken, salted chocolate cookies, mango+avocado salsa and that’s just what I can remember!

The more I actually do the more I want to Pin… perhaps this is the point?!
