I can’t tell you about today’s guest without thinking of her ear to ear smile! Sara from LIVINLIFE123 is here and she’s got a thing or two to tell her 18-year-old self. Sara is a wife and the Mama of 3 beautiful boys. If I can only tell you one thing about Sara it would be that she loves life, truly. She is optimistic, true to herself, and hopeful that today will be a good one. She is a positive advocate for Autism awareness, all three of her boys have it. She has taught me a lot about not just ‘dealing’ with the diagnosis but embracing it and your children no matter what. Her constant enthusiasm for life is infectious. Oh AND she shares very yummy easy meals… and we all know how much I love those!
Sara, if you had the opportunity to sit down with your 18-year-old self what would you say to her?
A Letter To 18 Year Old Me:
What can I tell you that you’ll listen to? What can I tell you that you don’t already *know?
You’re 18, you’ve been out of high school a few months now, you’re starting college in few days, enjoying your freedom…enjoying your youth.
There’s nothing wrong with going out, with having a good time, but try to make it to class for more than just test days. When changes occur, when life throws you a curve, stick with school. Find a way. If staying college isn’t an option go for beauty school….you know you’ve always wanted to…but I’m telling you…asking you….Finish school, you’ll kick yourself for years down the road if you don’t….I know you don’t believe me now but it’s a fact.
Speaking of going out and having a good time….I’m not here to lecture you about it, you’ll get enough of that….Just know your limitations. Nope one more drink won’t kill you, but it’s not always the brightest idea….puking ramen noodles isn’t fun, you know what I’m talking about …Know when not to drive, you back into enough parked objects sober….Know it’s okay to say ‘Hey I’m too tired to go to a club/party/whatever tonight’ and just at stay home and be a lazy bum, maybe even hang out with the fam…. Know that you should always respect yourself. Oh and put some damn clothes on!! That skirt is way too short!!
In a few months you’ll meet a cutie down the street…he’s a keeper, be good to him. Speaking of said cutie from down the street…you two will get in wayyyyyyyyyy over your head right before you turn 19….it’ll be okay, I promise. Kids aren’t nearly as bad as you think they are…Wait?!? Did I scare the crap out of you…sorry!!
What else can I tell you? I don’t want to ruin any more surprises this year holds…plus I know you me us(?), you’re getting bored reading this by now, aren’t you?….I’ll let you get back to your shenanaginizing.. Just enjoy every day, respect yourself [this one’s HUGE…you must learn to do it and do it always], love life, know everything will be okay, remember that stressing is a waste of time, and that life always works itself out.
XoXoX Your Future Self
*NOTE* — To all the present day readers…let’s hope 18 year old me has stopped reading…*I say ‘know’ because I’m sure like many of you…at 18 I already knew it all
